What happened to Walk and Talk Therapy?
For a hot second, I had walk-and-talk therapy listed on my website as a service I offered. When I heard the concept of walk-and-talk, my heart jumped for joy. I started scouting Point Defiance for trails. Circled the trees by bike, stomped around on foot, wandered the woods with a friend—took it all in. What a beautiful place! I mean, have you HEARD of Five Mile Drive?!
I asked my friend this question after making the jump, advertising this special service. She asked, “Isn’t that where some girl got stabbed?” Usually, I’d brush off a comment like this … but this is one of the toughest people I know. Advice should be strongly heeded by anyone who has spent considerable time in prison.
To this day, I’ve never been able to pepper spray someone. Besides unpleasant weather, this is my main downside to setting aside walk-and-talk … giving up the chance to protect a client by temporarily blinding someone threatening (aka a chance to be Batman).
Anyway, I ended up nabbing a small office with big windows on 6th Ave & State Street. I couldn’t say no to all that natural light. And free parking? Coffee and pizza basically always available downstairs? I mean, c’mon. I couldn’t pass up such a good opportunity.
Below office: State Street Beer Co. & Bluebeard Coffee Roasters. In the afternoons and evenings, the place smells like delicious pizza.
Because I love utilizing my office and don’t love the idea of subjecting myself or my clients to a stabbing in deep Point Defiance (even if the view was killer…cue groans for the bad joke), I have set walk-and-talk to the side for now. Instead, I go for walks around my office when I need some fresh air.
Hope you’ve been getting your steps in (or the movement of your choice) <3
